Dropping out of school to chase success: good idea or bad idea?

look at Bill Gates, the sole proprietor of Microsoft Corporation. he was a school drop-out and he didn't even graduate. should kids seriously look up to him and say 'oh i can totally do that' ??.. cuz they'll only be kiddsing themselves.. thats my opinion anyway.. thoughts,..
