Why did some ISS astronauts drank recycled urine?

Water recycling isn't particularly new. "Recycled urine" somewhat sounds like urine. It's not. It's potable water as any other. Urin consists of well over 90% water and it's quite easy to filter with the right equipment. You reduce waste and you reduce the necessity to supply the ISS with fresh water, which is a rather expensive endeavor.
