Eight guppies- are they REALLY males though?

In my tank I have eight male guppies. But I'm beginning to get concerned whether the fish really are males because a few of them keep chasing the others around but they're not nipping each other, they seem to be trying to get on top of them. Is this what livebearing fish do as male and femail or are they really fighting??
